Honey Bee Cupcakes
It’s been more than a month since I’ve had time to bake anything, so here is a project I undertook with my friend Lindsay over the summer.
I was flipping through a province travel guide, and landed upon a local apiary that happened to include a recipe for honey cake on it’s page. Score! I decided it would be adorable to make honey cake and put little bees on top. I decided to use marzipan because I didn’t have any desire to dabble with fondant at the time, which proved to be more challenging to work with than fondant.
I plan on making these again (hopefully soon!), but the recipe definitely needs some modification first. I found the cake to be dry and too dense for my tastes, though we may have run out of all-purpose flour… whole grain anybody?
